HONEST-TO-GOODNESS STORY OF RAGGEDY ANDY TO PREMIERE IN SPRING 2005.
OCTOBER 10…You’ve read the prequel--now, for the sequel! Pelican Publishing Company is pleased to announce that JONI GRUELLE WANNAMAKER’S and PATTY HALL’S newest book will be published this spring, just in time for Raggedy Andy’s 85th birthday. This historically inspired illustrated story book tells how brothers Worth and Dickie helped inspire their father, Johnny Gruelle, to create an impish rag-doll brother for their beloved Raggedy Ann. CD UPDATE – IT’S AN EVEN LARGER FAMILY AFFAIR!
OCTOBER 1… In late August, Patty’s Dad Verl flew down from the Bay Area to add some fine conga riffs to her NATIVE DAUGHTER OF THE GOLDEN WEST® CD. Dad has been playing congas and bongos ever since Patty was a kid (and who can forget the mule hide soaking in the bathtub, in preparation for being stretched as a drum head?), and, well—he is GOOD! So with just a little cajoling, Verl agreed to sit in on a session at Cloud Nine Studios, and the results were spectacular – he was, to say the least, hot-hot-hot. Needless to say, father and daughter had a blast.
Several weeks later, Patty’s niece Katie Wiltjer, a sophomore at Chaparral High School in Murietta, CA, visited Cloud Nine, adding the perfect finishing touches to Patty’s “Organic” song on her concert tuba (not to be confused with the Sousaphone, Euphonium, or trombone, all of which Katie also plays to a tee!) Though it was her first time in a recording studio, by session’s end, Katie was performing like a pro!

THE JA-VETTES MEET THEIR PUBLIC AT-–WHERE ELSE--JUST JAVA!
You could have heard a pin drop when the three certified “senior” gals (well, two of them anyway), attired in black, took the Java stage and began to play. Eight minutes later it was all over, but not before the gals had cut loose with a shake-your-tail-feathers, three-part-harmony version of “Da-doo-ron-ron.” Holding forth on bass, guitar, and keyboard, the Ja-vettes hinted that they would be back to get down on future Thursdays with more songs they’re hard at work on. Forrester Sisters, Malvina Reyholds, Andrews Sisters, the Marvelettes – sad songs, bad songs, soul songs, bold songs-- if it’s a woman song, it’s fair game for the Ja-vettes. Stay tuned…

MUCHAS GRACIAS, COMPADRES…
JULY 9…Thanks to everyone who came out to support us at the Nashville Songwriters Association Showcase at Claire De Lune (http://www.clairedelune.com ) last Thursday evening. It was a magical night, and in addition to the tunes of veteran songsmiths like John Bosley, we were treated to creations of some fine, up-and-coming young musician/songwriters. (It never ceases to amaze me how many talented musicians and songwriters live here in San Diego--we’re truly blessed) Lisa hosts the NSAI Showcase the first Thursday of each month at Claire’s. So, hop on by, stretch out on one of the comfy couches, and enjoy an evening of music and comraderie.
AT LONG LAST-–A PATTY HALL CD!
JULY 12...After years of putting it off (and she lived for 25 of those in Music City, USA, for heaven’s sake—go figure!), Patty has finally given in to the clamoring of friends and family and launched a solo CD project. Entitled “Native Daughter of the Golden West®,” the album will feature Patty’s original (both old and new) and traditional material, performed on guitar, banjo, keyboard, and various other eclectic and ethnic instruments. Themed around Patty’s California roots, the album showcases not only her own instrumental work, but also musical contributions from some of the West Coast’s most talented musicians. It’s about one-third finished and, hopefully, release will be within the year. Stay tuned for more details…
SCHOOL & LIBRARY PROGRAMS IN THE OFFING…
JULY 26… Come fall, and the start of the school year, Patty will once again be taking her "A BOOK IS BORN™" and "JUMPIN' UP SONGS!™" programs to schools, libraries, and museums throughout the country. These programs, which Patty tailors especially for students and young people, are ideal for schools and libraries that are focussing on literacy and creative writing, as well as on folk music of the world. More on these appearances as bookings are confirmed. In the meantime, if you'd like to have Patty come to your school, library, or museum to present these, or any of her other programs, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
NATIVE DAUGHTER CD UPDATE…
Things have been hoppin' over at Cloud Nine Studios in Sorrento Valley, as Patty adds more tunes 'n' tracks to her NATIVE DAUGHTER OF THE GOLDEN WEST® CD. Several studio and live sessions are scheduled for fall, when more musicians (including some musical family members!) will be contributing their vocal and instrumental talents. Then, it's on to mixing, and all the other fun parts of CD production. As release time grows nearer, we'll be posting a link, so you can pre-order autographed copies of NATIVE DAUGHTER right here at pattyhall.com
